The Government plans to take another leap for reaching out the rural folk in ensuring that they grow and develop as much as the Modi Government promised!
The government is looking forward to providing banking services in every village of the country by leveraging technology and the network of Common Services Centers (CSCs). CSCs are physical facilities for the delivery of the government's e-services in remote and rural locations where the availability of computers and internet is minimal. While the withdrawal facility has already started successfully at CSCs,opening of accounts is being worked out with the banks and is likely to be introduced soon.
During a conference of women village level entrepreneurs (VLEs) under CSCs, Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Government is targeting to create banking access point in every village through new technology. Women have played a crucial role as change agents under the Digital India Programme and women VLEs have made a promising contribution to the success of e-governance services and digital empowerment schemes among the poor and marginalized communities through CSCs.
He also mentioned that the commission earned by village level entrepreneurs or VLEs on passport, pancards and rail ticketing totals to 438 crore.
The minister also added that under this programme, the VLE will be sent to Singapore this year and then Silicon Valley to show how India is changing.
CSCs play important role in interface between the government and the beneficiaries, thus reducing corruption and delays. They are also expected to promote local handicrafts and artisans and at the same time contribute significantly to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of startup revolution in India. The success of this programme depends on the spread of e-commerce in rural India and connectivity of all the gram panchayats.
We hope that the plan materializes soon! :)
